The Neverending Story by Michael Ende

neverending story

This is a story within a story which is a very interesting premise. The main character is Bastian, a lonely boy who lost his mother and feels neglected by his father. Bastian steals the book The Neverending Story from someone and he ends up hanging out in his schools attic and reading it. From there he gets pulled into the story.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book. I was pulled into the story and got through it quite fast. However, after I was about 50% through (maybe a little earlier than that)  I felt the story fell apart. I found myself not really caring what happens to Bastian and the rest of the characters and I ended up just skimming through it to get to the end.

I was disappointed about that because I did, initially, love the story and the characters.

I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
