A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

I did not really enjoy this book. I had high hopes for the trilogy since it has gotten rave reviews but I found myself bored and unable to stay focused. Towards the last couple of parts I was doing a lot of skimming and that is almost always an indication that a book is not gripping enough. The first 230 pages were alright but after that it just seemed to drag on.

I think that the second book in the trilogy was the weakest of the three but this one was a close second and it didn’t have the redeeming ending.

I think that V.E Schwab has really intriguing ideas but there isn’t a lot of follow through. I think this book was longer than it needed to be as well.

I was not in the least bit invested in the characters. I didn’t care if they lived or died. I suppose I was curious if anyone was going to die but I don’t think I would have cared one way or another.

Definitely a disappointment. I give this book 2 stars out of 5. It’s a lower rating than A Gathering of Shadows but that’s because that books ending redeemed it. This book lacked any redeeming qualities.
